Inspired by true events that has happened in India, the sequel to the national award winning film Jolly LLB will see Jolly take up a huge case where he will fight against the corrupt and the powerful. The fight for what is right will not be an easy one for Jolly as he will realise he will be the last man standing up for justice against injustice.

The biggest challenge Akshay Kumar faces in Jolly LLB 2 is to match up to the expectations that the audience has with the franchise.

The first instalment had Arshad Warsi as Jagdish Tyagi and he carried the entire film on his shoulder. His friendly courtroom banter with justice Sunderlal Tripathi (Surabh Shukla) is still fresh in our memories. So, when we meet Jagdishwar Mishra (Akshay Kumar), the new Jolly, the first question that comes to our mind is: Has director Subhash Kapoor found a worthy successor in Akshay Kumar?

Akshay soon eliminates our apprehension when we meet his ‘jolly’ self. He likes to think of himself as a shrewd person, but he is confused. Most of his antics go against him and he remains in search of a big break. His wife, Pushpa (Huma Qureshi), enjoys her drink and tries to instil some sense into Jolly’s mind, but all in vain. Jolly isn’t ready to change. His motto: A good life is all about the money.

He has a nemesis in Justice Tripathi, Saurabh Shukla reprising his role from the earlier film. His colleague Mathur (Annu Kapoor) is another hurdle he faces in his work.

However, things take a completely different turn when he appears in the court against Iqbal Qasim (a terrific Manav Kaul).

The film changes its tone from here on and becomes a commentary on the Indian judicial system. But, this is just a beginning for Jolly. His fight against the mighty and corrupt will take him to unknown places and dreaded people.

Akshay Kumar’s comic timing is the backbone of this story. His dialect, theatrics, dialogues, everything is spot on, but he is yet to deliver a powerful speech like Arshad Warsi.

Stay tuned for more.
