How Much Sleep Do You Need?

Adequate sleep is important for proper functioning of body and mind. Getting a good amount of sleep makes us productive the next day and helps us to achieve our goals easily.
But then the question comes how much sleep do you need? After many researches and trials it is found that between 7 to 9 hours is sufficient for proper body functioning. Sleep cycle is controlled by hormone melatonin; it is also called the biological clock of the body. Once we start waking or sleeping at a certain time it becomes our habit it is due to hormones.

Who need more sleep?

  • Young age children
  • Old age people
  • Pregnant women
  • People doing challenging work

When should you go to sleep?

It doesn’t matter if you are taking 7-8 hours of sleep without affecting your daily routine. But most people suggest early sleeping and early waking makes the mind fresh and more active. Fresh mind is important because it can retain more information and work more efficiently. Students are therefore advised to go to sleep early and wake up early to study.

Not able to sleep?

People who can’t fall asleep easily can practice yoga and meditation to relax their body and mind. Mind at peace sleeps easily as compared to mind at chaos. Give time to yoga at least 20 minutes a day to sleep properly soon it becomes a lifestyle and automatically you can sleep on time. Another thing you should do is leave your phone at least 30 minutes before sleeping and do not use your mobile phone in dark as it affects sleep cycle and weakens the eyesight. Another very effective technique to sleep fast is blinking eyes very fast for 1 minute before going to sleep it is very effective.
Another thing you should keep in mind is for good sleep you need good surroundings like good quality mattress, optimum room temperature, no worry of work or anything, proper meal, avoid caffeine before sleep.

Get proper sleep and follow a good routine. Sleeping well will make you happy and productive in life.
