Chevrolet Trailblazer

The Chevrolet Trailblazer, General Motors’ first ever body-on-frame SUV for India, has been finally launched in the Indian market at Rs 26.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The SUV is powered by a 2.8-litre, Duramax 4-cylinder diesel engine that offers a class-leading power of 197bhp. The vehicle comes with first-in-segment projector fog lamps, and offers the best-in-class ground clearance (253mm) and boot space (1830-litres). Brought to India as completely built up unit (CBU), the Trailblazer will face competition from cars like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

Available in only just one variant, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is priced at Rs. 26.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), which makes it about Rs. 2.50 lakh pricier than its closest rival – Toyota Fortuner.

Despite being the biggest and most powerful SUV in its segment, the Trailblazer returns an impressive 11.4kmpl of mileage.

Design and Features

The all-new Chevrolet Trailblazer is based on General Motors’ ladder-on frame chassis, and looks very masculine and sporty. It has robust body-built, and offers a commanding road presence. The front fascia of the car features a dual port grille, projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. The Trailblazer is the first car to feature projector fog lamps in its segment. Other noteworthy features include LED brake lights with jewel effect, rear windscreen, etc. The SUV rides on 18-inches alloy wheels that are wrapped with 265/60 R18 section tyres.

Coming to the dimensions, the SUV measures 4, 895mm in length and 1,902mm in width and 1, 834mm in height, and has a long wheelbase of 2,845mm. The ground clearance of 253mm makes it more competent for the rough Indian terrains. It has a water wading capacity of 2.5 ft (0.8m), and offers a fuel tank capacity of 76-litres. The Trailblazer is offered in seven colour options – Blue Mountain, Auburn Brown, Summit White, Black Sapphire, Sizzle Red, Royal Grey and Switchblade Silver.

Interior

The Chevrolet Trailblazer gets a dual-tone (Black & Beige) interior with premium leather for seats, gear knob and steering wheel. With features like a 7-inch Chevrolet’s MyLink touch-screen infotainment system with iOS and Android support, rear view mirror, a dash camera with 32GB memory, reverse camera with chromatic LCD monitor and few more, the all-new Chevrolet SUV proves to be quite a loaded vehicle. The SUV comes with flat folding split seats, 60:40 for second seat row, and 50:50 split for third row. It offers a class-leading boot space of 1830-litres.

Chevrolet’s new SUV also hosts a bunch of safety features such as dual airbags, electronic stability programme (ESP), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), traction control, panic brake assist, hill start assist, hill descent control, cornering brake control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and many more.

Powering the Trailblazer is a 2.8-litre, Duramax, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces the class-leading power of 200bhp at 3,600rpm, and 500Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the SUV is claimed to return a fuel efficiency of 11.4kmpl. The vehicle comes with the RWD (rear-wheel drive) system. In global markets, the SUV is also available with a smaller 150bhp, 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine with a six-speed gearbox.
