Harshivraj wins gold in 800m in Punjab Rural Games

Harshivraj Singh of Gurdaspur clinched gold in 800 metres by clocking 2:05.46 on the opening day of Punjab State Rural Games for Boys Under-16 at Sports Stadium, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College here today. Sukhanpreet Singh of Patiala won silver in 2:07.16 whereas Buta Singh of Ludhiana got bronze in 2:07.85. The torch bearing ceremony was performed by athletes Sarpreet Singh and Karanpreet Singh, Saravjot Singh and Raj and Sarpreet Singh took the oath on behalf of all the participants. Earlier, Punjab Sports Director Rahul Gupta declared the Games open. Rupinder Singh, Deputy Director Sports Rupinder Singh welcomed of the chief Guest and other distinguished guest present on the occasion. Kartar Singh Sehamby, Assistant Director Sports, Punjab thanked the dignitaries present there.
