About:
The Deputy Commissioner has over all charge of the district, and is the hub of the district administration. For administrative purpose, the Deputy Commissioner, Pathankot is under the control of the Commissioner, Jalandhar division, Jalandhar. He has to play triple role as Deputy Commissioner, as Collector and as District Magistrate. In his multifarious duties, the Deputy Commissioner is assisted by two Additional Deputy Commissioners. The Assistant Commissioner (Gen) helps the Deputy Commissioner in Executive and Administrative functions. Each sub-division is in the charge of a Sub Divisional Magistrate. Deputy Commissioner is also assisted by the following officers for carrying out day to day work in various fields :-
1. Assistant Commissioner (Grievances)
2. Executive Magistrate
3. District Revenue Officer
4. District Transport Officer
5. District Development and Panchayat Officer
The Deputy Commissioner is the Chief Revenue Officer as District Collector and is responsible for collection of Revenue and other Govt. dues recoverable as arrears of Land Revenue. He deals with the Natural Calamities like draught, unseasonal rains, hailstorms, floods and fire etc.
Under the Registration Act the District Collector exercise the Powers of Registrar of the District and he controls and supervises the work of Registration of deeds. He also function as Marriage Officer under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. Further under the Cinematograph Act, the District Magistrate is the Licensing Authority in his jurisdiction. The administration of the Police in a district is vested in the District Superintendent, but under the General direction of the District Magistrate as per provisions of section 4 of the Indian Police Act, 1861.
Rule 1.15 of the Punjab Police Rules, 1934, also provides the powers of District Magistrate as under:–
The District Magistrate is the head of the Criminal Administration of the District and the Police force is the instrument provided by Government to enable him to enforce his authority and fulfill his responsibility for the maintenance of Law & Order. The police force in a District is, therefore, placed by Law under the General control and direction of the District Magistrate, who is responsible that it carries out its duties in such a manner that effective protection, is afforded to the public and against lawlessness and disorder.”
District Magistrate is thus responsible for the maintenance of Law & Order within the limit of his jurisdiction. He is conferred with very wide powers by the law, which if used prudently can be very effective in maintaining peace and tranquility. The police force is mainly an instrument provided by Law for the District Magistrate. He can impose restriction on the movement of unlawful Assembly under Section 144 Cr.P.C. and can also impose curfew keeping in view the situation.
He is authorized to inspect the Offices/Courts of Sub Divisional Officers (Civil), Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, Treasuries, Sub Treasuries, Jails, Hospitals, Dispenseries, Schools, Blocks, Police Stations, Second Class Local Bodies, Improvement Trusts and all other offices of Punjab Government, the A.C.Rs of whose Heads of offices he is required to write. In this way, he has effective control over the Administration. The Deputy Commissioner holds courts and hears appeals under the following Acts against the order of Sub Divisional Officer (Civil), passed as Assistant Collector Ist Grade and Sales Commissioner and Settlement Commissioner:–
1. Under the Land Revenue Act,1887.
2. Under the Punjab Tenancy Act,1887.
3. Displaced Persons (Compensation & Rehabilitation) Act,1954.
4. Punjab Package Deal Properties (Disposal) Act,1976.
5. Urban Land (Ceiling & Regulations) Act, 1976. Besides it, he decides the lambardari cases.

    Respected sir/madam I am serving soldiers in elite force of army and only one son of my parents I am also war cassulity in ANE action in jk my night boorhood forcely capture my own land by the support of senior patwari becos they know that my father is old he can’t come to working of court as a soldier this is very pain full for me if any help from ur side pls reply..     हमारे सुजानपुर वार्ड नंबर 7 मे नाली बनाने का काम किया जा रहा है आपकी जानकरी के लिये बतादें उस नाली को बनाने के लिये पुरानी ईंटों का ईस्तमाल किया जा रहा है कृप्या करके आप इस काम कि शान बीन करे जब सरकार ने पैसे पूरे दिये है फिर धोखा किस लिये और नाली नयी नही पुरानी नाली को ही पुरानी ईंटे लगा के रिपेर किया जा रहा है कृप्या करके काम के चलते आप इसे चेक जरूर करे नही तो बाद मे कोई पूछने वाला नही होगा जनता डरती है कोई किसी से लड़ना नही चाहता आप से हाथ जोड़ कर प्राथना है कि आप काम ख़त्म होने से पहले इसे चेक ज़रूर करे काम दो तीन के भीतर खत्म हो जायेगा .

    I am resident of Abrol nagar Pathankot. Madam I want to draw your kind attention towards serious water supply problem in our colony. Water supply pump goes defective again and again.Due which resident of Abrol nagar facing lot difficulties.

    I want to bring in to your notic that in
    lane no – 1,Ram Sharnam Colony
    pathankot.
    The owner of this house has extended his rump out side his main gate and coverd most of the road and more over has erected four solid steel angles with sharp edges facing upwords.
    due to this all passersby and vehicles are feeling harrassed.
    please take a quick action and get us rid from this problem.

    Most of mnc not following the rule.
    In pathankot. Like all the automobile co.
    All openes today on 2nd October .have any other favorable law for them in Constitution
