Tata Hexa Bookings Open At 11,000 Deliveries To Begin In January 2017

Tata Hexa, the much-awaited crossover-SUV from the home-grown automaker is all set to be launched in India in January 2017. Tata dealerships across India have now started accepting bookings for the Hexa for an initial token amount of ?,000 and deliveries are set to begin from the second week of January. While the new Tata Hexa is not yet on display at showrooms, we have been told by the company the SUV will reach dealerships soon.

Coming to the car itself, yes the upcoming Tata Hexa does come with its fair share of similarities with the Tata Aria, but we have driven the car and let us tell you that the Hexa is, in fact, an all-new vehicle. The front of the Hexa, in particular, comes with all the brawny attributes of an SUV like the wide honeycomb grille, muscular bonnet, large projector headlamps, beefy front, wide trapezoidal air dam, and LED daytime running lights among others. Similarly, the rear profile is also well-designed and comes with horizontal LED tail lamps, rear diffuser and dual chrome-tipped exhaust.

Step inside and you’ll know that the Hexa’s cabin is all about comfort and space. The well-laid out cabin comes in either a 6-seat or a 7-seat configuration with dedicated AC vents for each row in the range-topping variant. Also, the Hexa is loaded with some premium features like a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is linked to 10 JBL speakers and a 320-watt sub-woofer. One can also connect his/her smartphone and to the system via a mobile hotspot and share/play music. The infotainment system can be operated from the user’s smartphone and other functions can be controlled too.

In addition to passenger comfort, Tata has also kept their safety in mind, which is why the car comes with safety offerings like ABS and EBD along with 6 airbags. The Hexa also offers traction control, ESP, Hill-Descent/Ascent control too. Some of the other features include cruise control, auto-headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting amongst others.

Under the hood, the Hexa gets the 2.2-litre Varicor400 diesel engine which produces 156bhp and 400Nm from the top-of-the-line Safari Storme. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and also an all-new 6-speed automatic gearbox along with different driving modes. The rotary selector on the dashboard will allow you to toggle between the 4 driving modes i.e. Comfort, Dynamic, Auto and Rough road, which will be available only in the manual transmission variant.

Tata Hexa VARICOR 400 Engine
The likely rivals of the Tata Hexa will be the Mahindra XUV500 and the Toyota Innova. The pricing hasn’t been announced yet but we expect the prices to start from ₹ 12 lakh or thereabouts.
