Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa has recovered: Apollo chief

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has completely recovered from the critical stage and it is up to her to decide when she would be discharged, Prathap Reddy, chairman, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, said on Friday.

“She and her attendants are very happy and satisfied on her progress and treatments…. (She) asks and demands what she wants and completely understands what is going on around her. Even she is looking forward to going home,” Reddy told the media on the sidelines of a function here.

This was the first time he spoke on Jayalalithaa’s health since her hospitalisation on September 22 with “fever and dehydration”.
Asked about moving her from the CCU, and subsequent discharge from the hospital, Reddy said it depends on her now. “The most important part of the treatment has been very successful. She is completely under control… So we are very happy to tell you that she is well. The decision on her discharge will be made by her. We will coordinate,” Reddy said.

Asked whether Jayalalithaa is already demanding her discharge, Reddy said: “You know her nature…. She will very soon ask us, ‘When am I going home?’” He added that the discharge will not take too long.
