Our ministers are masters of goof-ups. Forever politically incorrect, they just don’t miss an opportunity to make a fool of themselves. Faux pas after faux pas, Indians are now used to such incidents. But somehow, our politicians keep coming back, hit, after hit, after hit.
Jharkhand Education Minister Neera Yadav gave a floral tribute to former President APJ Abdul Kalam at an event in a school in Kodarma, according to a report in IBN Live.
Floral tributes are reserved for people who have passed away. Ignoring the fact that Kalam is alive, Yadav went on to pay her respects to the ‘Missile Man of India’ by putting a garland around his framed photograph and keeping a coconut in front of it in proper ‘shradhanjali’ style.
According to the report , Yadav said that schools, photos of great leaders are also garlanded to honour them and is a way to pay respect and there was nothing objectionable in garlanding the photo of the great scientist and leader.
An Education Minister, at an event in a school, must brush up her general knowledge before garlanding major leaders of the country who are still very much alive.
