Sculpt your face with scotch tape

Sculpt your face with scotch tape

After strobing, clown and henna contouring, tape contouring is the newest way to highlight your face features. A make-up technique popularised by the Kardashian sisters, it took the Internet by storm after Dubai-based make-up artist Huda Kattan put up a video of this technique online.

As the name suggests, it involves the usage of scotch tape to create precise panels of light and dark shadows around areas of the face, like the nose, jawline, cheekbones and forehead. Once the tape is removed, you have to blend well to highlight your best features.

Things you will need

– A standard scotch tape
– A highlighter stick, concealer or bronzing powder
– A big makeup brush

This technique works well for beginners or those who need extra guidance when it comes to where the highlighter should be applied, as the tape acts like a stencil to ensure an even, precise and neat contour each time.

How to do it

– Cut out strips of the tape and apply them on different areas of the face.

-These are those areas you wish to highlight, including sides and bridge of the nose, high points of the cheekbones, forehead and the jawline.

– Once you have covered your face, use the highlighter stick or bronzer to contour between the lines created by the tape.

-Gently peel the strips and use the large brush to blend the defined creases.

Keep in mind

Tape contouring isn’t a good option, if you want to highlight your face every day. The tape can remove the moisture from your face which can be detrimental to your skin, especially during winter
