Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the ‘Run For Unity’ in New Delhi today on 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and urged people to take inspiration from his life and work for the country’s unity and integrity.

Addressing the people at Rajpath after paying floral tributes at Sardar Patel statue on Parliament Street, the Prime Minister said, “We cannot forget Sardar Patel’s contribution to keep the country united.”

“Soon after the freedom, Sardar Patel – also called the Loh Purush- worked with princely states to keep the country united from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.”

Invoking the legacy of Sardar Patel, PM Modi said:”It is our responsibility to ensure that we stay united.”

In a veiled attack on the Congress, the Prime Minister also said, “Sardar Patel never indulged in dynastic politics. No family name or members are linked to his legacy.”

Before flagging off the Run for Unity, PM Modi also administered the pledge of National Unity to thousands of people, which included school and college students, personnel of paramilitary forces, and people residing in and around here, gathered at the Rajpath.

On the eve of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the pledge of National Unity was administered at many offices of the Government of India in New Delhi on Friday.
