Mahindra registers 14 per cent growth in August 2016 sales

Mahindra has just announced its sales figures for August 2016 and it’s all looking rather good for the utility vehicle maker. The company sold 40,591 vehicles compared to 35,634 vehicles during August 2015, registering a growth of 14 per cent.

Going into the details, the passenger vehicles segment (including UVs, cars and vans) sold 18,246 vehicles in August 2016 as against 14,198 vehicles during August 2015, a growth of 29 per cent. Mahindra sold 36,944 vehicles domestically during August 2016, as against 32,122 vehicles during the same period last year, a growth of 15 per cent. Lastly, exports for August 2016 stood at 3,647 vehicles, signifying a growth of 4 per cent for the month and 18 per cent cumulatively.

For a brand like Mahindra that relies considerably on Tier II and Tier III cities for growth, the improved spread of monsoon as well as new product launches have helped them achieve positive results. Coupled with this, the ban on diesel vehicles has been lifted by the Supreme Court, something that will certainly help in greater sales momentum, going forward.
