Honda Navi was finally launched in the country during the Delhi Auto Expo 2016. Priced at Rs 39,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the vehicle can also be booked with a token amount of Rs. 1,000 through an android application – Navi – that can be downloaded from Google Play store. Deliveries for the vehicle, however, will be commenced from April, 2016. Designed for the Indian market, the Honda Navi is the company’s first product developed entirely in India by its in-house two-wheeler R&D division, right from the concept stage to commercial production.

The Honda Navi is basically a cross between a motorcycle and a scooter. Called ‘India’s first two-wheeler crossover’ the Navi provides power and agility of a bike and comfort of a scooter. In the name, NAVI stands for ‘New Additional Value for India’. Honda says that the Navi creates a “new segment in fun riding” – an entry-level off-roader. In its standard from, it’s ‘Fun to See’ (Fun-tastic design concept) and pure ‘Fun to Ride’ (powered by a peppy 110cc Honda HET with automatic transmission). The Navi claims to have Honda’s Fun DNA with new features and specifications that differentiate it from other 110cc scooters and motorcycles.

Prices for the all-new Honda Navi start from Rs 39,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Since it caters an all-new segment, it won’t have any direct rival in India. Though, it might affect the sales of 110cc scooters. The Honda Navi bike is being manufactured at the company’s Manesar plant. Initially, the bikemaker plans to produce 1 lakh units annually and will scale the production as per the demand. The vehicle is offered in a total of three variants – Street, Adventure and Off-road – and five colour options – Patriot Red, Shasta White, Hooper Green, Black and Sparky Orange.

The company is also offering a vibrant range of customized parts that will be available across all Honda dealerships in India. For people in the know, the Japanese two-wheeler maker also displayed 10 new models at the 2016 Auto event including four concepts and six Indian launches (four facelifts and 2 new mystery models).

Honda Navi is based on an all-new design philosophy, and looks a lot different than regular scooters and entry-level bikes.

Design & Styling

The Honda Navi is built on an all-new design philosophy that makes it look apart from regular automatic scooters and entry-level bikes. It has been designed in a way that it offers several customization opportunities to buyers. In terms of dimensions, the Navi is relatively short and compact with 1,805mm of length, 748mm of width and 1,039mm of height. Similar to bikes, the Honda Navi comes with a seat height of 765mm. It’s compact and lightweight body built not only aids to its handling and ride quality, but improves its fuel efficiency as well. With a ground clearance of 156mm, the vehicle also ensures a comfortable ride.

This entry-level off-roader is assembled with 90/90-12 front and 90/100-10 rear tubeless tyres. It offers a comfortable riding posture, thanks to its design. The vehicle carries a kerb weight of 101kgs, and has a wheelbase of 1,286mm. It offers a fuel tank capacity of 3.8-litres, which is less than other 110cc scooters and bikes. The vehicle sits on an under bone chassis, and offers a spacious storage bay. The Honda Navi bike/ scooter is being made available in five color options – Patriot Red, Shasta White, Hooper Green, Black and Sparky Orange.

Engine & Transmission

Powering the Honda Navi bike/ scooter is a 109.19cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled SI engine that is benefited with Honda Eco Technology. This powertrain belts out a maximum power of 12bhp at 7,000rpm, while generating a peak torque of 8.96Nm at 5,500rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by the V-matic gearbox. The Honda Navi is capable to achieve a top speed of 81kmph.

The Honda Navi is powered by a 8.96bhp, 109.19cc, air-cooled SI engine that is boasted with Honda Eco Technology.

Suspension & Braking System

The entry-level off-roader from Honda comes equipped with telescopic suspension up front and a spring loaded hydraulic type suspension at the rear. The vehicle derives its braking power from the 130mm front and rear drum brakes. It comes with both self and kick start options.

Powered with a 110cc, single-cylinder scooter, the Honda Navi bike is expected to return an impressive mileage of over 60kmpl.
