Kejriwal tweets: CBI summoned staff ‘informally’ on phone

Kejriwal tweets

Delhi’s chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal, posted on Twitter on Tuesday morning that CBI has issued an ‘informal’ summons to his staff to in relation to the raid conducted at Delhi Secretariat on December 15 last year.

“CBI summons Delhi CM’s staff “informally” on phone without notice. Staff of other ministers called earlier like this,” (sic) read Kejriwal’s tweet.

According to senior officials from the Delhi government, the CM’s staff was summoned over the phone on Monday. No formal notice or letter was sent to the office, government sources said.

A CBI official said the Bureau will not react to CM’s tweets. “We don’t know why the CM has been politicising a routine process. Earlier too, officials have been asked to depose. It’s an ongoing matter,” an official said.

Officials have also raised concern over the way the CBI has conducted investigations in this issue.

Kejriwal has in the past alleged that officers and staff members of his cabinet colleagues too were summoned by CBI sleuths informally. No notice was served to them too. Allegations were also leveled that the officers were harassed by being made to sit in the CBI office for hours and then sent back.

He has also been alleging that by doing so the Centre is intimidating officers working with Delhi government.
