Jonty Rhodes, former South African cricket player have applied to become a fielding coach for Indian Cricket team. Left his promising career in cricket after figure fracture in 2003 could not resist himself for being part of cricket. Since his premature retirement, Jonty Rhodes has been contributing in cricket in many ways. He was fielding coach of IPL most successful team, Mumbai Indian and did commendable work during his tenure.
In 2013 South African government appointed him as the brand ambassador of South Africa in India. Since then it has become 2nd home for him. It is in the news that he has bought a workshop in Bandra Kurla Mumbai to train for t20 matches.
His firstborn daughter name is “India Jeanne Rhodes” for that he said
“I have spent a lot of time here. What I love about India is that it’s a rich mix of culture, heritage and tradition. It is a very spiritual country, very forward-thinking nation. I really like that combination. You have to have a good balance in life. With the name like India, she will have the best of both worlds and that sort of balance.”
In love with India’s diversity, his wife added saying that there is no other country where mountains and sea can be explored together while staying in one country.
Rhodes has spent quality time in Gulmarg doing snowboarding for which he said: “those were the best three days I have ever had”. Like riding his bike Rhodes added I explored Ladhak on his bike and had great experience of doing that trip.
Jonty Rhodes is the most talented fielding coach and most deserving candidate have applied. Now it’s up to BCCI how they look forward and respond to his request.
