Jio 100mbps Speed May Launch in June

After disrupting the telecom market, Reliance Jio is all set to create some buzz in the broadband sector with Jio Fiber. The company is working on building its Fiber To The Home (FTTH) service. A recent report reveals that Jio will officially introduce its FTTH services, or better known as Jio Fiber, latest by June this year. Earlier, India Today Tech had exclusively reported that Jio was testing Fiber service in part of Mumbai.

The latest report notes that the launch of Jio Fibre has been confirmed by a Jio spokesperson to TeleAnalysis.

Recently, in its quarterly report on Reliance Industries, which is the parent company of Jio, noted that the company was preparing plans to launch Jio Fiber in India. The Jio Fiber will possibly have a speed of up to 100mbps, although there could be plans that may offer even higher speed.

Back in November last year, Jio in a statement had said that it would aim to “disrupt” the broadband market soon. Ever since then, Jio has been testing Jio Fiber across several corners of the country, which India Today Tech had reported long ago. Back in January this year, India Today Tech reported that a lot of users from Mumbai have already been using Jio Fiber. We had also revealed that there are some buildings in Mumbai where people had access to Jio Fiber and can also subscribe to the services.

Furthermore, a Jio spokesperson told TeleAnalysis, “We are doing some trials in various cities and most trials are successful and ready for commercial roll-out.” A few months ago the company revealed that they have been testing Jio Fiber in several areas of Mumbai and Pune. Reliance Jio is expected to launch the Jio Fiber service officially by June. However, the company is yet to roll out an official statement on the same.

Reliance Jio is really confident on the success of the upcoming Jio Fiber and will offer a much better and cheaper service as compared to other market competitors. Jio Fiber is probably going to offer a minimum speed of 100mbps.However, will come with a daily FUP, crossing which the speed is expected to drop to 1mbps. “Our plans start from 100mbps and it will be the most affordable home broadband service that Indian consumers will ever get,” states the report. Furthermore, as per the tariff plans, Jio Fiber is going to offer the cheapest plans ever says Jio.

Reliance Jio has already kick started the implementation of the Jio Fiber with beta trials. After this Jio is expected to roll out the service official by June all across the country. “The company continues to make progress on the roll-out of its Fibre to the Home (FTTH) business offering with beta trials initiated in a few locations. It would expand the scope of the beta trials over the next few months,” states Jio. “By June you will see some development in your city,” adds the company.

India Today Tech had previously reported that users subscribing to Jio Fiber will initially have to subscribe to Rs 4500 plan, after which the user will get free trail service for the next three months. However, there will be FUP that applies here. We had also revealed back then that every month users will be able to download 100GB data at the full speed. However, a new report states that after crossing the daily FUP, the internet speed is said to drop to 1mbps.

Alongside the Jio Fiber, earlier in November, the company had told the India Today Tech that it hopes to not only offer the fast broadband service but also wants to bundle it with multimedia services as well.
