In Pathankot’s Bamyal sector, locals take BSF men for terrorists

Confusion prevailed in the Bamyal sector on the India-Pakistan border when some residents of Sarval village mistook a group of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel for terrorists.

The confusion arose when a driver of the Punjab police, who was carrying the BSF personnel in a vehicle, asked some local residents about the route to Narot Jaimal Singh village.

On this, the locals grew suspicious thinking they could be terrorists in uniform and informed their sarpanch who called the Narot Jaimal Singh station house officer (SHO) immediately.

The SHO, who knew that the police driver was going to drop the BSF personnel, reached the spot and cleared the air.

Deputy superintendent of police (DSP rural) Parabhjot Singh Virk said rumours were keeping police on their toes. He appealed to the people to inform the police about any unusual thing in their area.
