Hyundai Creta Facelift Revealed Will Come To India Next Year

Hyundai has revealed the 2017 facelift of its highly popular Creta SUV at the ongoing 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show, in Brazil. The new Hyundai Creta comes with a number of cosmetic updates and several new features making the car all the more appealing. While the Creta facelift all set to go on sale in Brazil this year, considering the popularity the car enjoys in India, we expect Hyundai to launch the new Creta in the country as early as the first half of 2017.

The Hyundai Creta came to India early last year to compete with the likes of the Renault Duster and the Nissan Terrano and became an instant success. Around the same time, Hyundai also launched the car in Brazil and there too the car was really well received. Considering the car has completed over a year in both the markets, this is, in fact, the right time for Hyundai to come out with the facelift.

Among the several new changes in the Creta facelift, the most prominent update has to be the new face. While the bold and aggressive character of the car has been retained, additions like the new hexagonal grille with chrome borders, the new well-designed front bumper and the restyled horizontal LED fog lamps add to the car’s premium quotient. The headlamp cluster remains the same and so does the hood design. That said, the overall butch look of the SUV has been toned down a little.

The side profile of the car largely remains unchanged although the wheels are new and even the tail lamps have been redesigned. The rear bumper is new and there is also a bigger faux skid plate on offer. As for the interior, changes made to the cabin are quite limited and the only major difference from the outgoing model is the new brown/black dual tone finish and matching leather seats. The car also offers some new features like – cornering lights, stability control, hill-climb assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and more. There is also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on offer

While the former 4-cylinder motor makes 164bhp, the latter is good for 126bhp. Both the engines come mated to either manual or an automatic gearbox. The India-spec model, although, will continue to comes with the same 1.6 Gamma Dual VTVT petrol engine along with the 1.6 U2 CRDi VGT and 1.4 U2 CRDi oil burners. The engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and a 6-speed automatic gearbox as an option in both petrol and diesel trims with the 1.6-litre motors.
