Dadri lynching: Arvind Kejriwal stopped from entering Bisada village

Dadri lynching

Members of the Aam Aadmi Party , including Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, were stopped outside Bisada village when they went to visit Mohammad Ikhlaq’s family on Saturday. Ikhlaq was lynched by a mob on Monday night after rumours that he had consumed beef.

An uneasy calm was shattered with reports of violence in the village on Saturday morning. AAP party officials, who reached the village just hours after the incident, were not allowed to enter by local administration who reportedly cited law and order concerns. Kejriwal later tweeted that it was unfair to stop him. “We are stopped by police and administration. Mahesh Sharma and Owaisi were not stopped yesterday. They why me? I am most peace loving. I just want to meet Ikhlaq’s family,” he wrote on the micro-blogging site. Culure minister Sharma and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi had met the aggrieved family on Friday.

AAP officials though were escorted to a guest house where party leader Ashutosh expressed his grief over the unfortunate incident. “We think even the PM should come here and spread a message so that something like this never happens in again,” he said.

On Monday night, 50-year-old Ikhlaq was allegedly dragged from his home and lynched after rumours that he had consumed and stored beef meet. As many as ten people have been named as accused in the FIR.
