Bengaluruites Must Be Happy! Canara Bank Rolls Out ATM Bus For Convenience
Nearly 800 customers managed to withdraw Rs 8 lakh worth of cash from the ATM set up inside the blue colour bus which was spotted at the MG Road in Bengaluru
In a move to help the common man, the Canara Bank in Bengaluru rolled out the mobile ATM so that people could withdraw the new currency notes without having to form queues outside the bank.
Nearly 800 customers managed to withdraw Rs 8 lakh worth of cash from the ATM set up inside the blue colour bus which was spotted at the MG Road in Bengaluru.
MM Chiniwar, the General Manager at Canara Bank Circle Office told Deccan Herald, “I was taking a stroll in the evening on MG Road and found that most of the ATMs were running out of cash. So, I got our mobile ATM, which serves Bengaluru Rural customers, pressed into service.”
The bus arrived at the MG Road around 5: 30 in the evening and people felt a wave of relief finally as they no longer had to stand in long queues at the banks to withdraw the money.
Chiniwar also mentioned that sufficient cash will reach the banks and ATMs by Wednesday to reduce the rush and will help people in exchanging the old currency easily. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 announced that Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denominations no longer stand legal tenders effective from midnight.
