Anupam Kher Celebrates his Father Death Anniversary in a Unique Style

Actor Anupam Kher says his father celebrated his success and failure with equal enthusiasm, on his fourth death Anniversary.

Rather than hosting a typical “special white dress code” Bollywood brigade mourning day, Actor Anupam Kher along with mother Dulari Devi and brother Kailash Kher ‘celebrated’ the fourth death anniversary of his father Pushkarnath Kher with over 700 specially-abled children.

“My father celebrated my failures and successes with equal joy. He was my greatest fan and admirer. And he always loved the company of children and he celebrated life. In fact his last words to me were ‘Live Life!’ says Anupam Kher.

Anupam Kher, who was conferred the Padma Bhushan on this Republic Day, arranged a special band and singers like Shaan and Kailash Kher among others, who entertained the kids.

Anupam, who does not like to mourn on his father’s death anniversary, has always been cheerful on this day and this time celebrated it by distributing colorful props and cake balls to the kids.

“I asked my mother, can we celebrate my father fourth death anniversary rather than mourning him. My mother readily agreed and we have arranged a rock band for her and I specifically told my friends not to wear white cloths” says Anupam Kher.

Anupam has always been drawn to special children. During the 1990s, he religiously took time off his schedule to teach a regular weekly class at Dilkhush, a school for such children at Juhu.

The connection sparked a desire in Anupam to champion the cause and cater to the needs of such children and he established the Anupam Kher Foundation in 2008 for the purpose.
