After Modi, Kejriwal to feature at Madame Tussauds in Londo

Aam Aadmi Party national convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to become the first Indian chief minister to be replicated in wax at the iconic museum, Madame Tussauds.

A life-size replica of Kejriwal will be installed both in London and the branch of the museum in Delhi, which is set to open in the national Capital next year.

The India partner of London’s Madame Tussauds, Wizcraft Entertainment International, wrote to Kejriwal on January 11, requesting him to accept its invitation “to be an esteemed waxwork figure at the new attraction in Delhi”. In their invitation, the management stated that the museum wanted to honour Kejriwal for his “astounding work in the political sphere of India”. It said that Kejriwal’s life-sized wax figure will travel to the global locations of Madame Tussauds as a part of its collection.

Sources in Delhi government said the chief minister has accepted the invitation and a creative team of Madame Tussauds is expected to be in Delhi for measuring Kejriwal in April.

“The tourism department had received an invitation to install chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wax statue both in London and the new branch that would open in New Delhi. The chief minister has accepted the proposal. The state government is also processing the clearance required to open the new branch in Delhi,” an AAP functionary said, adding that Madame Tussauds will add to the list of important tourist attractions in the city.

New Delhi would join the elite list of important cities across different continents where the museum is located. Some of the important Indians whose wax statues are installed in the iconic museum include Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Hrithik Roshan and Sachin Tendulkar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be joining the list soon.
