Yemen-based Indian priest kidnapped by ISIS

Yemen-based Indian priest, Father Tom Uzhunnalil, is likely to be crucified by Islamic State (ISIS) tomorrow. The dreaded terror outfit would aim to grab headlines globally by choosing the date of Good Friday to execute a captured Catholic priest.

Father Uzhunnalil was kidnapped by ISIS from Aden on March 4. The Catholic Church in the region was attacked by ISIS militants, killing 16 people. While the nuns were able to flee away, the priest was taken as captive by the Islamists.

The Franciscan Sisters of Siessen, who were administrating activities of the church claim that they received a message from Daesh (ISIS) that Father Uzhunnalil is in their custody. They were allegedly informed about the torture to which the priest was subjected. The Sisters fear that they would crucify him on Good Friday.

However, Bangalore’s Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco, from where Father Uzhunnalil originally belongs, have denied receiving any confirmation of his arrest. They uphold the official version of Yemeni government which claims that the attack was either carried out by al-Qaeda or other extremist outfit and Father Uzhunnalil has went missing.

To contradict the Yemeni government’s claim, one of the nuns, while speaking to a Christian website, claimed that 5 European men ran inside the church minutes before the attack and shouted, “ISIS is coming to kill you.” The nun also claims that one of the person in their neighbourhood saw ISIS militants putting Father Uzhunnalil in to their car following the attack and fleeing away from the site.
