No point in beating around bush. The truth is , Priyanka completely out-dances Deepika in the Pinga item!!
How did that happen? What was Deepika thinking? And if her excuse for not lookingMaharashtrian enough in the song is her unfamiliarity with traditional Maharashtrianculture then let me remind the beautiful Padukone that Priyanka is Punjabi. Put in a traditional Maharashtrian nine yards and given to shakeand sway to lavni-styled dance steps Priyanka sizzles on the dance floor.
Wasn’t Deepika supposed to have the author-backed role? When Bajirao’s two women ,his wife and mistress came together to dance we expected sparks to fly all across the screen, just as when the two women in Devdas’s life Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixithad clashed for Dola re dola 13 years ago.
But Deepika is comparatively thanda in the dance competition in Bajirao Mastani. Where is that ball of fire we saw gliding across the screen in meteoric motions inSanjay Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raaslila Ram Leela? In her stead we have a repressed morose and distracted-looking Mastani sharing the dancefloor with a woman who is as swift as a lightening .
Priyanka’s movements in this traditional Maharashtrian song are naturally graceful and coquettish. Deepika on the other hands seems laboured in her movements.
As far their camaraderie on the dancefloor is concerned it is Advantage Priyanka inBajirao Mastani.
Let’s see what happens in the rest of the film.
