Police, army comb Pathankot villages for suspected terrorists

The Pathankot Police on Sunday morning launched an intensive manhunt for two heavily armed suspected terrorists in areas encompassing Narianpur and Harha villages, 30 km from here on the Pathankot-Dalhousie road, after two locals claimed to have spotted them at Lodeti village.

Brothers Ajay and Lalit, who are from Lodeti village, also claimed that the suspected terrorists were in army fatigue and were peeping into their house when they saw them, however, they managed to flee when the brothers raised an alarm early on Sunday morning.

The duo said they informed other villagers, following which police were informed, who combed the area for the suspected terrorists along with army personnel.

Though the combing operation was called off late in the evening, police and army personnel are keeping a tight vigil in the area, which is thickly forested.

Senior police officers, including inspector general (IG) Lok Nath Angra and deputy inspector general (DIG) Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh also rushed to the Lodeti village, where army personnel with its full weaponry joined police in the combing operation.

The DIG told mediapersons, “We have not found any suspected person, but we are continuing with our operation. The area is thickly forested and combing may continue for a few days.”

The brothers had claimed that they were watching TV when they saw the two suspected terrorists in army fatigue peeping into their house through a window, who suddenly disappeared in the forest after they raised an alarm and called their father are firm on their belief.

The area near Dhar block has been put on high alert after the Dinanagar terror strike.
