The Miss Universe 2015 finally got the chance to cook home-made food in her apartment in Fifth Avenue, New York City.
Pia Wurtzbach shared on social media on January 7, 2016 a photo of her holding a pot. She captioned the picture with “It’s my first time cooking in my New York apartment. I’m so happy to finally be having a home-cooked meal.”
The 26-year-old beauty queen has a Culinary degree after finishing studies at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies in San Juan, Manila. Her specialty is Filipino cuisine, she revealed during her interview with ABC News.
Most of the netizens, however, pointed out that the kitchenware and the apartment itself are not suitable for a queen.
One Jackie Beckham said, “My goodness you are Miss Universe and that’s the kitchen you have? You’d figure you would have state of the art appliances, beautiful granite countertops. It’s sad that an organization as wealthy doesn’t offer their reigning Queens more plush surroundings. Anyway, enjoy your year.”
A certain Rowena Hakkaoui echoed the sentiments of Beckham, saying “I’m thinking the same thing. I thought the apartment they provide for Miss Universe would be more lavish than that and new pots! Please! Please tell me that’s not a clothes washer in the background. Yes, I understand that the price for apartment in [New York City] is crazy expensive but she’s not just any rental. She represents [Miss Universe Organization] for goodness’ sake.”
Some, however, did not see any problem with the apartment’s lack of extravagance.
“Lavish lifestyle does not define a Miss Universe, humility does”, Kendy Ravello said.
Netizen Rico P. Polo said, ”She herself is happy with it, so why bother, our [Miss] Universe is humble and simple, let’s be happy too!”
