OLYMPIC MEDALLIST SAKSHI MALIK ENGAGED TO WRESTLER SATYAWART KADIAN
Rio Olympic medallist Sakshi Malik on Sunday got engaged to wrestler boyfriend Satyawart Kadian of Rohtak at her residence in Rohtak. The 24-year-old wrestler had earlier openly revealed about Satyawart in the media. However, her engagement came as a surprise to everyone.
“It was a private function. Only the families of the to-be bride and groom attended the event and it went very well,” Satyawart’s father Arjuna Awardee Satyavan Pehelwan said.
Satyawart, 22, is two year younger to Sakshi and trains at his father’s akhada in Rohtak. He won his first bronze medal at the 2010 Youth Olympics, and later went on to bag several awards for the same sport her fiance represents. The two were said to have fallen in love during wrestling tournaments.
When Sakshi had come back home to a rousing welcome after winning her Olympic bronze, she hailed Satyawart for supporting her career. “He is very supportive and thinks of my dreams as his own,” she had said.
Satyawart’s father said the engagement ceremony had been decided long ago, however, the wedding day was not yet confirmed. “They both are wrestlers so they have to chalk out dates out of their schedule of endless tournaments. So, we cannot say right now about the wedding,” Satyavan said.
