Purab Kohli will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in Akshay Kumar starrer Airlift. Kohli has shed his chocolate boy image for the movie and will be seen sporting a rugged look.
Talking about his role in the film, Purab said “The character I play is Ibrahim Durani and unlike most of the parts I’m associated with, Ibrahim comes from small town in India and works in the Middle East also the film is set in the 90’s so the characters are styled to that time. I had to hound Raja, my director to cast me. I had heard about the part and liked it and though he was confident about me being able to act out the part he thought I looked too urban for it. I went and met him after getting a very unstylish sort of haircut and sporting a heavy beard after a few weeks he finally saw Ibrahim in me.”
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, the film is based on biggest evacuation of Indians based in Kuwait during the 1990 airlift of Indians from Kuwait and is slated to release on January 22.
