This is not the first legal case that Salman is a part of (sorry we had to) but it’s most certainly the funniest.
On his 50th birthday, Salman unveiled an online shopping platform called khanmarketonline.com with presumably the noble cause of extending his merchandise to the digital space.
One of Delhi’s oldest and most popular markets, Khan Market, located in Central Delhi, has taken offence, and is planning to sue the actor for using their name.
“We are a world-famous market. How can the actor use our market’s name for his portal? If he announces discount for merchandise on his portal, customers will turn up here and ask for the same. They are bound to be confused,” said Sanjiv Mehra, the president of Khan Market Traders Association.
The case will be taken further on 4 January, when the Delhi High Court reopens. Even though the Traders Association has no trademark, they are the first market to have used the name ‘Khan Market’ and are claiming a right over it.
Khan Market has been active for 65 years, and sports close to 150 shops and 35 restaurants. It’s going be a Khan versus Khan situation in early 2016.
