
The Pathankot Civil Hospital has requested the Punjab Government authorities to shift the bodies of four terrorists killed in the attack on the Air Force base, citing lack of space in the mortuary.
The terrorists’ bodies have been lying in the hospital’s mortuary for the last two months.
Civil Surgeon Ajay Bagga told ANI that since the mortuary can keep only four bodies and all four spaces are occupied by the terrorists’ bodies.
“We have written to the higher authorities urging them to shift the terrorists’ bodies to some other place because there is an acute shortage of space in the mortuary of the hospital,” Bagga said.
“We are also facing problems in the routine operations of hospital,” he added.
He further said that the hospital authorities have written to Punjab Principal Secretary (Health) Vinni Mahajan, Director Health H S Bali in this regard.
Meanwhile, Punjab DGP Suresh Arora told ANI that they have received an application from the Principal Secretary in this regard and they are considering options to remove the bodies.
On 2 January, terrorists attacked the Pathankot Air Force Station, part of the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force.
Four terrorists and two security forces personnel were killed in the gun battle.
