Director SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The beginning has been one of the most extravagant projects the world has ever seen. While the prequel shattered several records and went on to become the highest grossing Indian film ever by earning an unthinkable sum of Rs.600 crore, it also left the nation wondering- ‘Why did Kattappa kill Baahubai?’
Doubt if the makers themselves were aware of what they were walking into. Sathyaraj, who played the role of Kattappa became an overnight sensation and gained as much popularity as the hero the film. In fact, no discussion about Baahubali is ever complete without the mention of this iconic character- Kattappa.
However, not many are aware that Sathyaraj is not a new to Hindi films. Although Sathyaraj shot to fame with Baahubali in 2015, but he was also a part of the 2013 blockbuster Bollywood film ‘Chennai Express’.
Still can’t recollect? Well, the actor played Deepika Padukone’s father Durgeshwara Azhagusundaram in the romantic action comedy. In the movie, he plays the role of a powerful headman of the local mafia in Tamil Nadu, who is also a strict father and doesn’t care about her daughter’s dreams before deciding her fate.
