Datsun rediGO hatchback made its world premiere in India on April 14, 2016. Referred as the country’s first ‘Urban Cross’, the Datsun rediGo is built on the CMF-A platform which is the same that is used for the Renault Kwid. Despite sharing the platform, the Datsun RediGo weighs 25kg lighter than its hatchback sibling. This will certainly help the car achieve higher fuel efficiency and better refinement than the Kwid.
With a length of 3,430mm, the new Datsun hatchback measures 249mm shorter than the Kwid. Despite that, Datsun’s entry-level car will be slightly taller and more spacious. While its height stands at 1,540mm, the wheelbase measures 2,430mm. The Datsun RediGo also borrows its petrol engine from the hatchback cousin. The RediGo will be Datsun’s third and most affordable product in India.
Datsun rediGO Price in India
With high-level of localization and low-cost platform, the Datsun redi-Go is expected to be priced quite aggressively against its rivals. It is speculated to be more affordable than the Renault Kwid. The rediGo prices could fall in the range of Rs. 2.50 lakh – Rs. 3.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Datsun rediGO Launch Date
Datsun India will launch the redi-Go in the country on 1st June, 2016, and deliveries will be commenced from the same day. Though, the company will begin accepting pre-orders from May 1, 2016.

Datsun rediGO Rivals
To be positioned below the GO and GO+, the Datsun redi-Go hatchback will take on the likes of Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai Eon, Tata Nano and others in the league. With contemporary and sporty styling, the new small car from Datsun will target a larger set of buyers. For people not in the know, the Datsun redi-Go was first unveiled as a crossover concept at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
Datsun rediGO Exterior
After the Renault Kwid, the Datsun Redi-Go is Renault-Nissan Alliance’s second product based on the CMF-A platform. Though, it looks quite different from the Kwid. The production version of the car retains most of its design features that were shown on the concept. The car features a hexagonal honeycomb pattern grille with chrome slat, stylish sweptback headlamps with LED daytime running lights, chromed bumper with integrated LED fog lights and twin character lines running across the front to the rear.
The production version also appears with a sculpted bonnet, steel wheels with skinner tyres and sporty rear design. The rear profile is highlighted by contoured tailgate, vertical tail lamps and separate reflectors on the lower bumper. The hatchback offers the best-in-class visibility, and 185mm of ground clearance.

Datsun rediGO Interior
The interior design of the redi-GO is quite different than any of its siblings. It’s quite driver-oriented with features like a 3-spoke steering wheel, front power window controls on the floor console, round HVAC vents and tall gear lever. Datsun claims that the rediGo offers the best-in-class space and kneeroom for front and rear seats occupants. Similar to the Kwid, the Datsun rediGo features a beige dashboard with black plastic center console and fabric seats with dual-tone brown and beige finish.
Datsun rediGO Engine & Transmission
Power for the Datsun rediGo comes from an 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that also does duty to the Kwid. This powertrain delivers a maximum power output of 53.2bhp at 5,678rpm against 72Nm of torque at 4,386rpm. If reports are to be trusted, the hatchback might also get an all-new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder diesel engine at a later stage. This oil burner will yield an estimated power of 55bhp and 135Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be executed by a 5-speed manual gearbox. At a later stage, Datsun might also introduce an AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox on the hatchback.
