A 35-year-old CISF constable posted at the Ratnagiri Gas and Power Plant Ltd unit at Anjelwal, Dabhol has allegedly shot dead an Assistant Sub- Inspector and a colleague using his service rifle.
The incident occured on Tuesday between 9.30pm and 10.15pm. The accused Jawan had an alleged tiff off with the victim ASI whom he shot dead. Later he shot his colleague followed shooting his seven month pregnant wife and later himself in his chest. The husband-wife duo are in a critical condition admitted to Life Care Hospital in Chiplun.The accused jawan hailing from Madhya Pradesh has been identified as Harishkumar Gound(35).
While the deceased ASI has been identified as BG Shinde (57) who hails from Sangli and constable Raneesh PR (28), from Kerala. While his injured wife who is seven months pregnant has been identified as Priyanka Gound (30).
The Guhaghar police has lodged a case no 23 under IPC sec 302, 307 besides Arms Act 27.
“On Tuesday around 9.30pm, when Gound returned to his staff quarter after duty his duty hours, and was heading towards his barack to deposit his service rifle , there ensued a verbal quarrel between him and ASI Shinde. The reason for the tiff is yet to be ascertained by the police.
Gound allegedly using his service rifle pumped a bullet into Shinde’s chest which killed him on the spot. Later he fired two more rounds in open which created furore among other colleagues,” said Guhaghar police station PI Vineet Choudhary.
“While returning, he was spotted by a constable Raneesh P R (28) from Kerala and assuming that he will be caught by him, Gound shot him too which killed Raneesh on the spot. After reaching his quarter Gound narrated the incident of his killing spree to his wife. Later, Gound allegedly shot bullet into his wife who sustained injury on her shoulder. Gound then shot himself in the chest and threw his rifle out of the barrack’s window.As his wife shouted for help, our police team reached the barrack and found Gound and his wife in a pool of blood and rushed the duo to Life Care Hospital in Chiplun, added Choudhary.
It is learnt that the accused was staying here with his wife and daughter. “He had told the doctor that he did not want to shoot his wife. The doctor didn’t find any mental instability or disorder so far,” said Chaudhary.
