In a “sarkar chalana-aata-hai” tone, Congress on Wednesday slammed the Centre for the legislative logjam despite the NDA’s majority in Lok Sabha, contrasting it with the “revolutionary economic reforms” of the Narasimha Rao government which ruled with a minority.
Leader of opposition in RS Ghulam Nabi Azad said the BJP had failed in running the government because it did not know how to run Parliament.
The Congress veterans also accused the Centre of being arrogant and being driven by vendetta against the opposition. The government’s agenda to belittle the opposition has negated the possibility of any meaningful engagement, they said. Azad singled out parliamentary affairs minister Venkaiah Naidu, saying, “I have never seen a parliamentary affairs minister spearheading the confrontation.”
Kharge said the government was bulldozing LS on the back of its majority .”Those bills then are stuck in Rajya Sabha,” he said.
