Azharuddin gives 'brother' Sidhu a surprise

Former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is undergoing treatment for acute deep vein thrombosis at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, was given a surprise visit by none other than former Indian captain and his ex-teammate Mohammad Azharuddin on Friday.

Sidhu has been making steady recovery and doctors say no surgery or intervention has been planned for now. According a report in NDTV, no visitors were allowed to meet Sidhu but Azharuddin told the authorities “my brother is inside”, following which he was given permission to visit after Sidhu’s family agreed.

Sidhu expressed his delight on Twitter after meeting Azharuddin.
Old Gold, old wine, old friends – still the Best!

Sidhu and Azhar fell out in 1996 when India had toured England. Sidhu had walked out from the team as he reportedly thought his captain Mohammed Azharuddin had abused him. It seems the two have set aside their differences and renewed their friendship.

Fifty-one-year-old Sidhu was admitted to the hospital with acute deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a life threatening condition if not treated in time. DVT is caused by a blood clot in a deep vein which hinders the normal blood flow. The symptoms may include swelling, pain, and tenderness, often in the legs.
