Bhubaneswar police Tuesday sounded a high alert after four unidentified men, believed to be Iraqi nationals, went missing when asked to produce their identity proof at a hotel here Monday night.
“The four, who fled the hotel before the police could reach there, could be terrorists. They claimed to be natives of Iraq,” said DGP Police K B Singh.
Bhubaneswar Police Commissioner R P Sharma said the car in which the suspects arrived at Hotel Arya Mahal had a fake Delhi registration number.
Hotel manager Siba Narayan Mohapatra said one out of the four men came to the reception desk, while three others stayed inside the car parked outside. The CCTV captured the photograph of only one suspected terrorist. Sources claimed that the men spoke in Hindi and English.
“After the incident, the security of the Chief Minister’s convoy has been beefed up,” added Sharma. The Special Task Force led by Inspector General Of Police Arun Bothra has been put in charge of the investigation.
