Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju today called upon the personnel of Assam Rifles to keep up the good name of the armed force through their hard work and dedication.

“Keep the Assam Rifles’ flag flying high in the true spirit of Sentinels of the Northeast and Friends of the Hill People”.

Speaking at the glittering ‘Attestation Parade’ at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Sukhovi here, the minister said, ‘northeast is a strategic area and its security is of paramount importance’.

The Assam Rifles is the oldest paramilitary force of the country whose diversified role is to provide not only security but also welfare and developmental assistance to the civil population, he said.Rijiju also assured that the Centre will take care of the problems of the Assam Rifles.

The brief history of the Assam Rifles was also read out in the presence of the minister who landed Dimapur this afternoon.

Commenting on the hardships faced by personnel during training, Rijiju said initially nothing may seem easy but trainings will help to stand firm against all circumstances.
The minister also congratulated the guardians and the parents of the new recruits for their support towards the achievement.

The reviewing officer also presented awards to the 6 passing out recruits for their outstanding performance during the training period.

Sharda Bhardwaj, Dilawar Singh and T Raju Singh were awarded the medals for being the Best All Round Recruits in women and men recruit categories respectively. Irene L was awarded the medal for being the best in drill.

Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju was accompanied by Mumbai-based singer, Adnan Sami and state leaders like Home Minister, Y. Patton, Minister for School Education & SCERT, Yitachu, NIDC Chairman, Tovihoto Ayemi and others.
