– Clean all your woollens and jackets or have them all dry-cleaned.
– Never use the dry cleaner’s plastic bag to store clothes in – it dries out the fibres and causes yellowing.
– Use plastic bins to store clothes and pile them loosely so they can breathe.
– Don’t hang up coats or sweaters – folding them carefully and piling them loosely helps them retain their shape.
– Be more careful with silk, satin or cashmere – wrap it in acid-free tissue paper and store in cotton bags.
– Remember, the golden rule for storing woollens is that the environment should be CCDD – cool, clean, dry and dark.
