Harbhajan Singh, who got married to Bollywood actress Geeta Basra on October 29, is turning out to be a match-maker of sorts for top Indian cricketers. The India off-spinner, who was the first to hint about Yuvraj Singh’s engagement with Hazel Keech, said Zaheer Khan is ‘next in line’ to get hitched.
Harbhajan, who is on a comeback trail to the national team after being part of both the ODI and the T20I squads in the South Africa series, took to Twitter to say that Zaheer may tie the knot soon.
The Punjab cricketer, who along with Yuvraj is currently playing in a Ranji Trophy match against Baroda, also urged fans to retweet his comment so that Zaheer, who retired from international cricket on October 15, may agree to their request.
Zaheer, India’s fourth highest wicket-taker in ODIs (269) and Tests (311), was earlier linked to Bollywood actress Isha Sharvani and the two were even all set to tie the knot. But then it was rumoured that they parted ways. However, seeing the current trend of Indian cricket stars falling for Bollywood beauties, it would not be a surprise if the left-arm fast bowler too marries an actress.
Zaheer, who expressed his desire to coach Indian team bowlers post retirement, is currently taking a break from sports-related activites. In the meantime, the introvert Zaheer may well be preparing to take the big leap on the personal front.
Yuvraj’s Bachelor Party
While Zaheer’s marriage plans may still take sometime to materialise, another star cricketer Yuvraj, who confirmed his engagement with actress Hazel on Sunday, has already started getting calls for a lavish bachelor party.
The 33-year-old Yuvraj’s Punjab teammate and close friend Harbhajan asked the 2011 World Cup player of the tournament about the location of his bachelor party on Twitter.
Harbhajan had earlier hinted that Yuvraj may get engaged close to Diwali in a tweet on October 29, after his own marriage. He had said that it was time for the left-hander to fall ‘in line and play straight.’
Yuvraj, who was unbeaten on 43 against Baroda on Monday, in a tweet on Sunday said he will not give any interviews regarding his engagement as he wanted to concentrate only on cricket.
While Harbhajan has made a successful comeback to the national team, the same cannot be said about Yuvraj, who last played for India in the 2014 World Twenty20 final against Sri Lanka. His form in the Ranji Trophy has also been not up to the mark.
However, Yuvraj’s father Yograj hoped that his would-be daughter-in-law Hazel will bring good luck to his son’s career.
“I was introduced to her by Yuvraj and she is a very nice girl. I am confident that marrying her will change his fortunes and he will return to the national squad. He definitely has it in him to represent India,” said Yograj, who has often blasted India ODI and T20I captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for not selecting his son.
