Abhishek Kapoor wins legal battle against Farhan Akhtar over ‘Rock On 2’

Rock On 2

Director Abhishek Kapoor had earlier filed a case in Bombay High Court demanding that he should be given joint credit with Pubali Chowdhary as the co-writer of the Rock on 2. Finally on Friday, 23rd October, the High Court gave its verdict in the favour of director.

Speaking on this ocassion, Abhishek said that, “I feel vindicated because this has been going on for a couple of years now. I have struggled with this, and eventually, I had to go to the court to get my credit. But now that it’s done, I’m feeling great. I had full faith in the country’s judiciary. I’m happy that they have given such an impeccable judgement. I’m also thankful to my lawyers who had faith in me, and who stood by me.” reports Hindustan Times.

Though he was not directing the sequel to Rock On, he was happy earlier with the progress that the movie was making. After Pubali denied giving him credits for co-writing the film’s story, the director was shattered.

The conflict started when Pubali got the sequel’s script registered with The Film Writers Association (FWA) under her name.

The evidence used by his lawyers against her include a series of emails that were shared betweeen them.

Finally after the court’s verdict, Farhan’s production house has also agreed to mention his name as co- writer of the story.
