Three Suspicious Armed Men Seen Near Pathankot Air Base

Pathankot has been put on alert after three suspicious men were seen with arms near the Air Base. The police have set up check posts across Pathankot and search is on for the three men. This comes just days after locals in Pathankot claimed seeing suspected terrorists in the area.

“Since 3-4 days there are inputs of suspicious movement being seen. We reacted accordingly but nothing substantial found as of now,” said SPS Parmar, IG Border Zone.

A local in Pathankot on Monday claimed to have given a lift to two suspected terrorists, following which the area was put on alert. The local claimed that he gave lift to two men on Sunday night. The duo got down at a place nearby Kathua region in neighbouring Jammu and Kashmir, the police said.

The Pathankot police has been checking vehicles at key places. Notably, the Punjab Police has provided nine bulletproof tractors to Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts to deal with any such threat.

Dinanagar in Gurdaspur and the Air Force base in Pathankot were attacked by terrorists in July 2015 and January 2016, respectively.
