School bus with 60 students on board falls into gorge

A school bus with approximately 60 students on board fell into a deep gorge at around 4.30pm on Monday near Malkwal area of Nurpur constituency bordering Punjab. The bus was not visible from the road as the gorge was around 100 metre deep.

Police, local volunteers, ambulances, team of doctors and other emergency services were pressed into service.

Santosh Patial, Superintendent of Police told that the incident happened minutes before. He was rushing to the spot, about 80 KMs away, from district headquarters here.

“Yes the unfortunate accident has happened, I am on the way. Number of casualties was yet to be confirmed” he said. It was said that bus was on its way from Wazir Ram Singh School of this area. The incident took place while the bus was descending a sharp curve.
