India’s Historic Gold Medal in Table Tennis

In the recent Common Wealth Games 2018, Indian player Achanta Sharath Kamal reached the finals in the Indian Men’s table tennis team and wins over Nigeria team by 3-0 points. He after winning also admitted that he was completely clueless at one stage about how to make a comeback to the game which was going against Bode Abiodun after going slightly down during the match during the opening tie of this match. Therefore, India had actually swept the events of table tennis as the men matched with the women in order to seal a memorable gold medal over Nigerian team. It is considered that it is for the very first time since the induction of the racket sport into the program of Common Wealth Games that our country has topped in the both categories. After Manika Batra fired India towards the historic triumph against Singapore, the Sharath Kamal had also beat to beat his opposite team and capture gold medal.

Along with both the individual as well as doubles which are still on offer, the overall performance of India is completely considered as marked improvement from its disappointment which is being shown four years ago when our country managed to have just a silver in the men’s double. It was actually none other than Nigeria country who generally beats India to get bronze medal. Now, Kamal can be the only player and the finest one from India who was also the part of men’s double team who end up winning gold medal in this Common Wealth Games. It completely reflects the overall increasing improvement in the field of sports. He was ranked 48th and along with his usual self and while looking at the match, his both power and high range of strokes was too tough and hot to handle for the opposite country Nigeria and won by 4-11, 11-5, 11-4, 11-9.
